Sažetak

Language development is a complex process that occurs as a result of the interaction of biological, cognitive and environmental factors. The development process in most children is simple, proper communication patterns are adopted, gesture production is combined with verbal production, decontextualization of understanding and morphosyntactic development occurs. The base of the mother tongue (native language) is thought to have been adopted at the age of four. However, why do some children, despite their normal peripheral hearing,
without neurological deficit and presence of environmental stimuli have delayed language and communication development? This paper gives a cross-section of research that has studied early symptoms, e.g. risk factors for the occurrence of language-communication disorder with the aim of early simptoms recognition and differentialdiagnostic procedure. In doing so, data related to prevalence, overlapping symptoms between different disorders and time frames are given within which we expect the occurrence of certain behaviors that indicate the dynamics
of language-speech development.
