Abstract

The elevation upon which Vrsar now stands exhibits all the
typical characteristics of Bronze and Iron Age hillfort settlements
across the Istrian peninsula. A significant number of sherds of
prehistoric pottery were collected in the course of small-scale
archaeological supervision work performed at a site on the south
slope of the Vrsar hill late in January of 2012. The typological
analysis of these potsherds discussed here points to the presence
of a fortified prehistoric hillfort on the Vrsar elevation by the
latter part of the Early Bronze Age.
