USE OF ORGANIC SELENIUM IN BROILER NUTRITION

Sažetak
In this paper effects of broiler meal supplementation with organic and inorganic selenium as well as with different amounts of vitamin E on productive results and meat quality were investigated. Experiment was made on the total number of 240 broilers, which were divided into 4 groups. Experiment lasted 42 days and was divided into three parts. Broilers were fed three types of complete mixtures for fattening; these mixtures were of standard feedstock (and chemical composition). Complete mixture for initial feeding was used from 1st to 21st day of life (experiment) and complete mixtures for final growth were used form 21st to 35th day and 35th to 42nd day of treatment. During experiment, control group (K) of broilers was fed mixtures with inorganic selenium (sodium selenite) added in the amount of 30 ppm + 20 IU vitamin E, feed of experimental groups was supplemented with Sel-Plex + 20 IU vitamin E, sodium selenite + 100 IU vitamin E, and Sel-Plex + 100 IU vitamin E (P-I, P-II and P-III ) respectively. Both forms of selenium used (organic and inorganic) and increased amounts of vitamin E did not affect blood selenium concentration significantly.Concentration of selenium and vitamin E in breast meat and liver was significantly higher in groups fed mixtures with added organic bounder selenium and 100 IU vitamin E. Control group of broilers fed mixture with added inorganic selenium plus 20 IU vitamin E achieved usual production results for their proveniance and with the use of organic form of selenium supplemented with 100 IU vitamin E a positive effect reflected in higher body weight gain and better feed conversion were achieved. Average mass of broiler carcasses went from 1243.32±166.23 (control group) up to 1470.37±120.00 (experimental III group). Lowest meat yield was determined in control group (65.31%), and highest in experimental III group (69.24 %). Supplementation of broiler feed mixtures with organic bounded selenium plus vitamin E gives possibility for achievement of better productive results as well as bigger meat yield.
