Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.
  • All authors have read and agreed to the manuscript as submitted.
  • The submission has not been previously published nor it is under consideration at another journal (or an explanation has been provided in Comments to the Editor).
  • The authors of peer-reviewed submissions have prepared two files for submission: anonymized manuscript (in OpenOffice, Microsoft Word or RTF format), and a filled-in Submission Form (PDF).
  • Please note that the Croatian Sociological Review uses anti-plagiarism software to screen papers for unoriginal material. By submitting their paper to the Croatian Sociological Review authors agree to originality checks during the peer-review and production processes.

Author Guidelines

The peer-reviewed, open access journal Croatian Sociological Review primarily publishes original research articles and review articles of general interest for sociology and related disciplines, with an emphasis on articles that contribute to a better understanding of topics relevant for the context of Croatia, the Western Balkans and, more generally, Central and Eastern Europe.

We also accept shorter research notes. This category refers to texts based on time-sensitive data requiring fast publication. These, for example, might be the papers with recent insights from possibly still ongoing research, which present new data or critical updates to existing data. In addition, for this category, we will also accept papers presenting or discussing methodological innovation, in quantitative, qualitative, or mixed methods.

In specific cases, we might also consider publishing preliminary communications and technical (professional) papers if they are of special interest to the journal.

Authors are also encouraged to submit reviews of books and conferences, as well as Forum contributions. Forum contributions include, but are not limited to:

Critical discussions or debates about matters of interest to society or the academic and sociological community;
Introductory texts about advanced or unfamiliar research methods and/or analytical techniques;
Discussions of diverse theoretical approaches or models;
Notes about various data analysis or (qualitative or quantitative) date management software;
Social sciences' popularization or educational texts.

For more detailed guidelines, authors should consult the GUIDELINES FOR AUTHORS, as well the STATEMENT OF THE PUBLICATION ETHICS.

All our contributors are also welcome to consult the Guidelines for Reviewers.

For all peer-revieweed submissions, the authors should submit two files: anonymized manuscript and Submission Form.

The Croatian Sociological Review accepts free format submissions. Authors may initially submit their manuscript using any consistent author-date referencing style. After the acceptance, authors will be required to edit their article in accordance with the style used by the Croatian Sociological Review. For the authors' convenience, we have prepared an Endnote style [EN] / [HR] adapted to the requirements of the Croatian Sociological Review. Still, the authors are responsible for the final check of the accuracy of their references.
