Sažetak
Translation tools and linguistic resources are constantly developed and
translators have to keep up with the updates in the field of translation
technologies in order to meet the market needs. The aim of this paper is
to present the linguistic resources and the translation tools used nowadays
by translators. Special attention is given to the linguistic resources and the
translation tools used in the translation from Croatian to Italian and from
Italian to Croatian.
Besides a general presentation of the linguistic resources and the
translation tools used by translators at present, this paper offers a detailed
presentation of all elements, tools and resources that are part of the
translator’s workbench, more precisely, machine translation, translation
memory, terminology management tools and corpora.
This brief review of the translation tools and the linguistic resources
available to the modern translators emphasizes the importance and the
indispensability of the translation technology in the translator’s everyday
work. They allow translators to respond to requests of high quality,
precision and speed imposed by the global translation market.
