Abstract

The introduction of a new subject in secondary education is a long-term process that often ends in failure. Every successful attempt is therefore an event worthy of attention and review. This paper singles out the period of the 1950s, when the efforts of art historians, primarily Grgo Gamulin and Milan Prelog, set the necessary preconditions for the introduction of
art history as a separate subject in Croatian high schools.
