Abstract

By analyzing the secondary data-source contents, the results of previous studies, which examined various strategies to reduce the food waste, such as waste prevention, surplus-food redistribution, and recycling, were combined. This paper’s objective was to identify the most effective waste-reduction strategies, legislation, and policies and their potential contribution to environmental protection. The results demonstrate that the strategies such as waste prevention, surplus-food redistribution, and recycling provide useful guidelines for an action to combat food waste and protect the environment for future generations while creating a more sustainable and resilient food system.
