Sažetak
This paper examines the concepts of the body and beauty from two key theoretical perspectives: constructivist and feminist. Constructivism is based on the view that the body and beauty are shaped through processes of socialization and are mutually conditioned within specific cultural and historical contexts. In contrast, the feminist perspective, critically analyzes the standards and norms related to the body and beauty, emphasizing that these standards are often shaped under the influence of patriarchal power structures. Thus, feminist theory promotes awareness of diversity by incorporating gender and sex into the understanding of the perception of the body and beauty. Through combining these two perspectives, the aim of this paper is to offer a deeper and more complex understanding of the concepts of the body and beauty – acknowledging the diversity of experiences and interpretations, as well as the influence of social power structures and gender identity.
