Abstract
Mastering communication and presentation skills is crucial for business
success in today’s labour market. Therefore, the aim of this paper is to examine
the prior knowledge of presentation skills, the level of self-confidence,
and the experience of presenting in the mother tongue and in English
among students of Aspira University of Applied Sciences. The research was
conducted through a questionnaire completed by 110 respondents. The results,
processed using descriptive statistics, showed that students do not
gain sufficient experience in practicing presentation skills during primary and
secondary education. The greatest emphasis in their previous education was
placed on presentation preparation. Most students had experience presenting
in their mother tongue, while experience in English was significantly lower.
Nonetheless, most reported feeling confident presenting in both languages.
