Abstract

This paper deals with the influence of vetch and oat growth in crop rotation on physical, mechanical and chemical characteristics of soil. A two-year research was conducted on 4 ha test plot. Soil samples were taken three times for every crop and then analised in a laboratory. In the same time mean soil samples were taken for chemical analises. Vetch, as the first crop in crop rotation, improved soil characteristics. Least possibility of crust formation was in the beginning of vetch growth and in harvest time. Nitrogen amount in soil was increased for 20.0 percent. Oat, as the next crop in crop rotation, made the soil characteristics worse, especially chemical characteristics. After harvesting oat, increased possibility of crust forming and soil compaction, due to soil tillage, was determined.
