Abstract

In Croatia there is an increasing interest in ecological food production, owing to attempts to form the diet of as many as possible victuals of animal and plant origin, produced without use of pesticide, growth stimulant or any other harmful substance. There are lots of regarding possibilities. Considering geographical environment, climate qualities, clean environment and pasture grounds of quality, we are able to produce such food not only for needs of local inhabitants, but for foreign market as well. With recent years some legislative regulations have been introduced in the domain of ecological production, processing and marking of ecologically made products. Environmental cattle’s breeding, as part of ecological agriculture, is specially represented in “Act of environmental production of products of animal origin” (NN 13/02), which in part regulates conditions of poultry farming. Therefore, this paper works out the minimal requirements for poultry farming in more natural way, because of meeting of biological and ethological needs and promoting environmental concerns.
