CREATIVE TEACHING APPROACHES IN HIGHER EDUCATION

Sažetak

This paper explores students’ perceptions of creative approaches in higher education, with a particular emphasis on the role of teachers’ and associates’ creative competencies in determining the effectiveness of those approaches. The study was conducted on a sample of 200 students from six different academic disciplines, employing a quantitative methodology using validated questionnaires. The results indicate a significant positive correlation between students’ perceptions of teachers’ and associates’ creativity and their assessment of the effectiveness of creative teaching approaches. In other words, students who perceive their teachers as competent and innovative are more likely to positively evaluate creative teaching methods. Additionally, the study identifies differences in perceptions and effectiveness of creative approaches across various academic fields. Students in the social sciences, humanities, and medical sciences demonstrated higher levels of acceptance and appreciation for creative teaching practices, whereas students in the technical sciences and arts reported lower evaluations, pointing to differing epistemological and pedagogical norms within specific academic fields. The paper offers relevant recommendations for improving teaching practices in higher education and highlights the importance of continuous professional development for teachers, as well as the inclusion of students in the dialogue on teaching quality.
