Author Guidelines

INSTRUCTIONS FOR AUTHORS

Fluminensia publishes papers from the domain of philology. Every paper that the Editorial Board deems suitable for publication is sent out for a double-blind peer review. The final decision on the categorisation of the paper is made by the Editorial Board. Fluminensia does not publish professional papers.

Only previously unpublished manuscripts are accepted for publication. The manuscript should be accompanied by a signed Authorial statement (the form can be downloaded from the Fluminensia website) stating that the manuscript has not been previously published in any other journal or book and that it has not been submitted for publication to any other journal. Fluminensia does not charge authors for the submission, processing or publication of manuscripts.

Manuscripts may be submitted at any time, and individual volumes/issues are closed on 1st March, that is, 15th September. The authors are asked to have their manuscripts proof-read prior to submission. The editorial board reserves the right to adapt the manuscript in such a way as to meet the requirements of the journal and the norms of the standard Croatian language.

1. The manuscript may be submitted in Croatian or another language (prior approval by the Editorial Board is needed in case the manuscript is submitted in a foreign language). Manuscripts in foreign languages should be accompanied by a statement signed by a competent native speaker that they have proof-read the manuscript.

2. The preferred manuscript length (excluding the abstract, references and appendices) is 16 type-written double-spaced pages (one page = 1800 spaces), including the footnotes. The Editorial Board reserves the right to decide on the final length of the text depending on the topic and the reviewers’ remarks/comments.

3. The text should be typed using Times New Roman, 12 ppt., and the spacing should be 1.5. Manuscripts containing special fonts or characters should be accompanied by a document which contains the code used. The pages should be numbered. Manuscripts that contain special formatting (photographs, diagrams, figures, tables) should, in addition to being submitted in the standard format, also be submitted as *.pdf (Acrobat Reader) documents.

4. The manuscript should contain the following sections:

• HEADING – include the author’s information in the top left corner: full name, title, name of the institution and e-mail address

• TITLE

• ABSTRACT AND KEY WORDS in the language of the manuscript (include up to six key words separated by a semicolon (;))

• BODY (if there are several sections, please number the headings and subheadings)

• REFERENCES

• TITLE, ABSTRACT (around 1800 characters; it should contain the aims, methodology, the most important hypotheses and conclusions) AND KEY WORDS in English if the manuscript is written in Croatian, that is, in Croatian, if the manuscript is written in English, or, in both Croatian and English if the manuscript is written in any other language; include up to six key words separated by a semicolon (;).

Manuscripts should be sent both as *.doc (that is, *.docx) and *.pdf (information about the author(s) should be removed from this version) documents to the following e-mail address: fluminensia@ffri.hr

Footnotes and references
1. In-text references to books should be given in italics, parts of books (e.g. individual papers that are a part of a larger work or individual literary texts) should be enclosed in quotation marks. Examples should be given in italics.

2. Footnotes may appear at the bottom of the page numbered sequentially and citations included in footnotes or in the body of the text should be given in the following manner: Lingvostilističke natuknice upućuju na pripadnost pojedinoga leksema kojemu od funkcionalnih stilova i ovise o „emocionalnoj, ekspresivnoj i ocjenbenoj obojenosti” (Menac 1998: 261).

3. References should be complete, and the author should adhere to the norms of individual scientific areas.

4. The reference list should include full bibliographical data only of work cited in the footnotes. Entries without the name of the author or the editor are entered in the alphabetical list according to the first word in the title. Those that include the name of the author or the editor are entered according to his/her last name. Multiple works by the same author or editor should be listed in chronological order. If several works by the same author or editor that were published in the same year are cited, they should be marked by letters a, b, c, etc. after the year of publication (no space between the year of publication and the letter).
