OPIS PRIJEDLOGA U JEDNOJEZIČNIM RJEČNICIMA

Abstract

This paper discusses particular points that the lexicographer should keep in mind when describling prepositions in one-language dictioneries of standard Croatian. Particular attention will be given to the distinction between dimensional, i. e., spacial (e. g., od zida, na ulicu, u kuću/kući, pod klupu/klupom, za brdo/brdom) and temporal prepositions (e. g., od petka, na Božić, u predvečerje, pod starost, za Napoleona) on the one hand, and non-dimensional meanings of individual prepositions on the other, such as causal (e. g., od raka /umrijeti/, u čudu /se pitati/), modal (od srca /se smijati/), intentional (za ukras /služiti/), adoptive (u mačke /oči/), comparative (od svih /najbolji/), conditional (u slučaju bolesti) etc.
