The focus of this paper is lexicographic and, thus, practice-oriented. It focuses on metaphorical German collocations with the structure type VERB+ADV, which have been codified in KOLLEX (2023), a database-driven and corpus-guided German-Hungarian syntagmatic learner’s dictionary (cf. Hollós 2004). The aim is twofold; firstly, to briefly present the tagging practice of the corpus-based collocation lexicon KOLLEX and, secondly, to propose an easily operationalizable methodology for the codification of metaphorical collocations for bilingual (learner) lexicographic projects. The aim is not only to provide a dictionary-critical approach, but also to use the larger corpus-guided material base to better theoretically define the phenomenon of "metaphorical collocation” of a certain type.
