Abstract

The aim of this paper is to gain insight into the quality of life of young people from the island of Prvić, examined through the subjective well-being of young people and community resources. Nine young people from the island of Prvić participated in the research, and the data were collected through semi-structured interviews in the period between May and August 2020. The results showed that young people have good relationships with their families, partners and friends. They are generally satisfied with the material thingsthey own and their fi nancial situation. They are satisfi ed with their current work environment, but most express a desire to change their work status. They highlight living with their parents and the impossibility of becoming independent as the biggest difficulties. They generally think that they have a sufficient amount of choices in life, but also that they would have more choices if they lived on land. In terms of community resources, young people see the island as a place with more difficulties regarding resources and with more areas that need to be improved, but they still consider living on the island to be an advantage. Those young people who indicated that they planned to leave the island also said that they would stay or return to live there if more investments were made in the island.
