Abstract

The Tourist Association of the Pula District focused its activities on studying, monitoring and elaborating the entire tourism issue, doing a series of analyses, reviews and proposals to make tourism the most important industry in the Pula District over the years. The functions of the Association were to provide assistance in the establishment and organization of tourist associations and to coordinate the work of the members of the Association, to assist in the construction and fitting out of tourist facilities, to assist the bodies of the “people’s government” in promoting tourism. to cooperate and mediate with the competent transport authorities, to make analyses on tourism in the country and abroad, on the relationship of tourism with other economic and cultural branches and to compare the development of tourism with that in more developed countries, etc. 1965 saw the adoption of the Merger of the Pula and Rijeka Districts Act. The two districts were merged into one socio-political community – the Rijeka District established in Rijeka. The Association ceased to operate on 30th November 1965 due to the merger with the Rijeka Tourist Association.
