The archival holding HR-DAPA-262 contains material which originated in the Nursing Home Poreč from 1947 to 1960. The authorities of that time, by establishing special social institutions, started the era of organized care of the needy, including the elderly and helpless people. Social affairs fell within the jurisdiction of the Committee of Social Care and the Council for Public Health and Social Policy, which regulated the issues within the field of social care. On the other hand, the financing of socialinstitutions fell within the jurisdiction of the municipalities and towns’ governing body. The activity of the Nursing Home was aimed at taking care of the elderly and helpless people who needed constant help and supervision of others.
