A contribution to the history of the Croatian High-school in Pazin

Abstract

The A. has prepared 22 documents that illustrate the events preceding the establishment of the Croatian High school in Pazin. The paper consists of two parts: Introduction and Documents. In the Introduction the A. presents a brief review of the "prehistory" of the Pazin High school, based on published works and collected documents. He concludes that between 1868 and 1899 two phases must be distinguished: the first from 1868 to 1886, the second from 1887 to 1899. He then points out the events that characterised these phases. In the second part the A. presents the accumulated documents, mainly originated from the collection of the Pazin territorial commune.
