The Fugue or the Escape?

Sažetak

This text gives the outline of the interpretation of Ranko Marinković’s novel Never more, where special attention is paid to its subtitle, which is The fugue novel. First of all, the possibility that the text of the novel with its form imitates the musical form of fugue is considered, and after that, the possibility that the word fugue needs to be understood in its etymological form, as escape. Bringing this into connection with Marinković’s texts other with subtitles, and there are many, the article ends in an attempt to figure out what the title and the subtitle, when together, say about the sense of the novel.
