Sažetak
The intention of this work is to research travel as a reflection point of the identity crisis of a traveling subject, through the example of three novels coming from the generation following the experience of The Jeans Prose, Šoljan’s The other people on the Moon (1978), Tribuson’s Slow Surrender (1984) and Radaković’s Splendor of the Epoch (1990). In doing so, I’m continuing Flaker’s idea of evasive relation of the main character of jeans prose towards the world, yet I supplement my analysis with the methodological frame of cultural studies and literary anthropology by researching the role of the popular culture, construction of genre, idleness, home, i.e. homelessness, cosmopolitism and collective identities in identity layering of traveling subjects. Through more precise insight, it shows that despite the similar cultural field which generated the afore mentioned subjects, their experience in traveling and their methods of identity transformation, are significantly different; I write about that in the conclusion of this article.
