Abstract

This paper analyses the contents of the contributions published in the first after-war journal from the area of social work in Croatia in the period of the first decade of its publication (1960-1969). The introduction presents a brief outline of social work in the former state. It briefly outlines the circumstances and reasons that led to the launch of the journal Social Work. The paper records the influence of the professional journal on the formation of the authentic theory of the discipline and its own scientific language with the controlled vocabulary, as well as the mutual influence of social work in practice and the theoretical development of the scientific discipline itself. For that purpose, the thematic analysis of the contents of the contributions published within the first decade of the journal's publication has been conducted. The analysis has been conducted by the analytical-synthetic and descriptive method, and partially by using the bibliometrical method.
