SELF-ACCOUNTS OF THE CHILDREN AND YOUNG PERSONS WITH RISK IN THE FAMILY AND/OR BEHAVIOUR ABOUT THEIR EXPERIENCE OF SOCIAL INTERVENTIONS

Sažetak

The aim was to gain an insight into the experience of interventions that society has undertaken towards young persons with behavioural disorders and/or family risk through the self-representation method applied in the process of social-pedagogical diagnosing. 40 children / young persons who, due to risks in the family and/or behaviour, were in a certain kind of the process of diagnosing / assessment i.e. making decisions about their future lives participated in the research. On the one hand, it was an institutional process of diagnosing (27 participants), and on the other hand the placement in housing community in order to encourage the process of gaining independence after the institutional treatment (13 participants).
Through qualitative approach and the procedure of coding in the records of semi-structured interviews, the following categories in both groups of participants with regard to the undertaken interventions were obtained: the reason for the intervention, adaptation, relation towards adults, rules, problems during the intervention, changes due to the intervention, expectations from the intervention and the experience of the intervention. The participants of different levels of diagnosing / assessment had a discussion with regard to the differences in their experience of the intervention. Specific features connected with the dimensions that define certain categories emerged. In principle, it is possible to say that the experience of the intervention with regard to the accommodation in a housing community is exceptionally positive and young people expect a lot from it. The dimensions on the continuum from positive to negative descriptions, sensations, experiences and expectations are present in the children and young people from the institutional form of diagnostics.
