Sažetak

Boka kotorska (Bay of Kotor) played an important role in the maritime history of the eastern Adriatic. In addition to Perast and Prčanj, Dobrota peaked economically in the eighteenth century, having grown into one of the most developed coastal centres of this part of the Adriatic. For generations, particularly in the eighteenth and nineteenth century, the members of the distinguished families of Dobrota - Ivanović, Kamenarović, Radimiri, Trip ković, Marović, MiloševiE and others - were the torch-bearers of the economic prosperity of the area, contributing with their capital and heritage to the cultural and artistic development of their native town. The article focuses on the life and work of Pavao Đurov Kamenarović, who, in the opinion of the specialists in the history of Boka, is one of the foremost figures of eighteenth-century Boka. An able seafarer and merchant, whose ships sailed to all the major ports of the Adriatic and the Mediterranean, mayor of Dobrota, head of the Croatian confraternity of SS. Georgio e Trifone in Venice, real estate owner in Venice, Veneto, Kotor, and Dobrota, Pavao Kamenarović owes much of his fame to being a benefactor of the Church of St. Matej in his native Dobrota. Based on the available historiographic data, primary sources from the Archives of the confraternity of SS. Georgio e Trifone in Venice and from the Historical Archives of Kotor, the article brings to light some new details from his life, primarily those concerning his family relations but also his connections with the prominent families of Dobrota, individuals, and ecclesiastical institutions. The appendix contains the complete transcripts of his will (1786) and codicils (1787) written in Dobrota, currently filed at the Historical Archives of Kotor.
