Sažetak
Educational process is extremely complex and its foundation rests on communication. This is evident from the fact that students tend to seek the approval of their own identities that gradually change and that requires well-developed communication skills of teachers who also need to have a high level of empathy. Tolerant (assertive) communication is a quality mode of address and it has to be learnt and trained. Both children and grown-ups should be involved in the process of practicing assertive behavior along with certain cultural, social and family communities. They should defi ne themselves in relation to what is good to wish for and how to accomplish it, what is decent, what is agressive, how not to hurt someone, how to stand up for themselves and
clearly and reasonably express their own wishes and needs. Only then, we can hope for a higher quality of life, a better relationship with our social milieu, and more successful effects on our working environment. If we accept the fact that the young (among other things) learn from a model or by imitation, then an assertive librarian is a very desirable model - strict, but fair.
