Humanistic and Scholastic Reflections in Vetranović’s Pjesanca u pomoć poetam

Sažetak
Mavro Vetranović, in his extensive and diverse opus,
synthesized the linguistic-stylistic feature, structural properties
and motifs from different stylistic formations and poetic systems.
First, J. Carić and M. Medini tried to interpret the heterogeneity
and ambivalence of his work by his biography. Later, his poetry
was determined as mannerist (N. Kolumbić and P. Pavličić). Since
Vetranović himself did not write a poetical treatise, or at least a
dedication in which he would speak about the intention and the
expected effect of the works, and various poetic thoughts (imitating
canonical writers, poetic madness, astrological influences, Orphic
power of poetry) scattered in his opus are actually poetic typical
motifs, his poem Pjesanca u pomoć poetam is of utmost importance.
Therefore, the article tries to detect possible humanistic and
scholastic reflections in the mentioned poem.
