Reduced air temperatures in Croatia

Sažetak

In January the reduced temperatures in Croatia are in the range from -2 C do -1 C in the interior to 9 C-10 C in the coastal belt. Due to the different thermic characteristics of sea and land the reduced temperatures are higher above the sea and in the coastal belt than at the same latitude in the interior. The reduced temperatures arise from the Northern Adriatic to the Southern Adriatic. In July the cooling influence of the Adriatic Sea is weaker than its warming efect in the winter. In July the coastal belt (23 C - 26. C) is warmer than the interior (21 C - 23 C) because the cooling influence of the Adriatic Sea is evident far from the coastline and on smaller islands. Besides, the lower temperatures in the interior are the result of cool air streams of maritime polar air from Northwest, the cooling influence of Alps and stronger nocturnal cooling as well. The annual reduced temperatures are in the range from 10 C - 11 C in the interior to 16 C - 17 C on the Southern Adriatic.
