Termohaline properties in the wider area of the Ploče port

Sažetak
Outstanding differences in microgeographic-climatic, hydrologic and meritime characteristics in a very small area have roused interest, requiring a more complete analysis of thermohaline parametars. Measurements and samplings were carried out seasonally, in the bay, channel, river and sea area, protected from the direct influence from the open sea. In general, a significant impact of the fresh-water onflows of different intensities, depending on position and season, was observed at all the stations. A frequent occurence of positive termocline was also noted, as well as a rather infrequent phenomenon of subsurface haline minimum. The data from the measurements carried out in May and September 1990, and January and March 1991 were analyzed.
