Sažetak
The problem of suicides in children and adolescents, according to epidemiological data, is growing.
Regarding the etiology, most common theories claim that the cause of suicidal behavior lies in family dynamics and the influence of environment. The basic symptoms of suicidal behavior are lack of hope, low self image, and isolation. There are numerous risk factors that lead to suicidal behavior and therefore prevention activities are necessary, mostly in primary health care, continuous education in schools, families, and media. Secondary prevention aims at different risk groups and includes (beside school, families and media) institutions for social welfare. Tertiary prevention aims at well organized treatment and rehabilitation.
