A NEW ASPECT OF THE FINAL THINGS Jesus Christ, our hope (1 Tim 1,1)
Anton Tamarut
Sažetak
SUMMARY
Due to above all correct hermeneutical interpretations of biblical and theological expressions about the completion of the world and mankind, eschatology, directed towards what seems the objective description of the far future, has changed gradually into theology of hope. Its substance is no longer just the goal which we hope to attain, it is also hope which is directed towards this goal.
Eschatology is no longer a mere debate about the future, it also deals with the present day if it is directed toward its fulfillment and completion. We can say for contemporary eschatological discussion that it is dynamic and contextual; it is connects and unites the fate of the world and man; it is decidedly relational, at the same time personal and communitarian- ecclesiastical, focused on Jesus Christ as the eschatological event.
In the article the author, besides the mentioned trends in contemporary eschatology, especially analyzes the iconological and pneumatological roots of Christian hope. Man whom and how God revealed in Jesus Christ, in his life, death and resurrection, is the foundation of our hope. It is precisely this that we as Christians may hope for.
