Sažetak
Periapical cyst biopsy was performed in 16 subjects to assess their immune response. Total proteins were determined by Lowry's method, and IgG, IgA and IgM by radial immunodiffusion. Immunoglobulin values were expressed in mg/g total protein. The study showed IgG, IgA and IgM to be present in different percentage and amounts. IgG and IgA were found in 100%, and IgM was detected in 33% of the samples. Mean values of IgG, IgA and IgM in periapical cysts were 159.4, 25.6 and 1.8 mg/g total protein, respectively. The values of IgG, IgA and IgM found in the periapical cysts suggested their possible local synthesis and immune response, which may play a role in the pathogenesis of periapical cysts.
