Sažetak
On two agricultural holdings in primary breeding region of Kamnik Alps some body traits of contemporary Jezersko-Solčava breed of sheep (n= 30) and the same sheep improved through several genaraton width Romanov breed (n= 30) were investigated. Results of body measurements were compared with those of Jezersko-Solčava sheep from year 1921. Statistical analysis shown that Jezersko-Solčava sheep compared with the same breed of sheep 90 years ago, have significantly (P<0.05) longer but closer head, and were higher in wither but deeper in chest, also the ankle joint distance from the ground was lower. Comparing contemporary Jezersko-Solčava sheep with those improved with Romanov breed confirm significantly (P<0.05) lower elbow joint distance from the ground. These sheep also have shorter body lenght, are lower in wither and chest, and have smaller heart girth. Changes described here could be good basis for certain selection steps in pedigree herds.
