Some charactheristics of the development of permanent dentition and somatic growth in handicapped childern

Sažetak
The investigation was carried out to get a deeper insight into the pathology of permanent dentition development and of somatic growth in handicapped childern as data on this subject are insufficient as recorded in the stomatologic literature. Two groups of examinees aged 6 — 14, were formed. The experimental group included 197 patients; 120 boys and 77 girlis with difficulties in psychosomatic development. The control group consisted of 200 examinees selected using the method of random choice out of a population of healthy childern with 102 boys and 98 girlis. The following conclusions were obtained: — the eruption of permanent teeth occurs later in children with difficulties in development than in healthy children; — the eruption of permanent teeth occurs earlier in girls then in boys in toth groups; — handicapped children weigh less than healty children, in both sexes;— healthy children are taller than handicapped children, in both sexes; — healthy chidren weigh 3 — 21% more and are 1,5 — 7% taller than nandicapped children; — slower grouth and development of handicapped children are probably caused by negative conditions of the environmental factor when the genetic potentials are not completely expressed; — with regard to the standard values of height and weight of the referred population, the average values of the experimental group are lower, and the average values of the control group are higher than the standard ones.
