Sažetak
The purpose of the work was to determine the concentration of the
remaining monomers in polymethylmethacrylate obtained in different conditions of polymerization with regard to the method of polymerization (warm and cold) and the personal work. The remainig monomers were analyzed in the total of 48 preparations of polymethylmethacrylate which were divided in three groups. The first group consisted of preparations obtained in three separate polymerization procedures by one technician. The second group consisted of preparations made by three technicians who all performed separate polymerization procedures. The first and the second group of preparations were made by the method of warm polymerization and they comprised 31 preparations. The third group was made by the method of cold polymerization and it comprised 17 preparations. A separate, fourth group of preparations consisted of artificial teeth made out of acrylate. The determination of the remaining monomers was based on the method according to Smith and Bains (1956). Some preparations of polymethylmethacrylate of the same technician show approximately identical values of the remaining monomers. There are differences in the findings of the remaining monomers between particular groups of preparations made by different technicians. The concentration of the remaining monomers in preparations obtained by cold polymerization shows considerably higher values. In the artificial teeth made out of acrylate
the remaining monomers could not be determined by this method.
