Mucocoeles of small salivary glands

Sažetak

This paper presents the analysis of 60 lesions clinically diagnosed as cysts. The investigation showed that out of all cases 46 were mucocoeles, 7 were real cysts while in the remaining 7 cases a widening of the excretory canal of the smail salivary glands was found. The formations were mostly located at the lower lip; sex difference did not affect their frequency and they were most frequently found in the second or third decade of life. The comparison of these results with the results of other authors indicated that the changes clinically diagnosed as cysts were not real cysits as their inner surface was not covered by epithelium or endothelium.
