Sažetak
In this study, an attempt was made to establish the extent to which
the SmCo5 magnetic alloy is resistant to corrosion. Tests were carried out in strongly basic, neutral and acidic solutions, at the temperature range met in oral cavity. Particular attention was paid to the results obralned in a solution characterized by (the pH value of saliva. The -results this obtained were compared to those obtained in the study of corrosion resi, tance of the usual dental alloys (auropal, aurum, wironite). The study was conducted in 48 samples in total, with 24 samples used for the SmCo5 magnet study. Weight differences between magnetic alloys and the control group were determined at temperatures of 24°C, 37°C and 50°C, in the solutions wiith concentration pH of 2.3, 6.7 and 11.8 Weight differences were determined after the alloys being kept in the solutions for 72 hours.
The results have shown a well polished SmCo5 magnetic alloy, used
as a means of retention In the current prosthodontics, to be resistant
to corrosion in the mouth cavity medium, and hence it should ibe considered a proper dental alloy.
