Sažetak
The essay analyzes the influence of forced migration on the change in age structure of a population based on the example of the Sisak-Moslavina county, half of which was occupied during the Homeland war (1951–1995). The purpose of the essay is to show the crucial influence of forced migration on the biological make-up of the population. For that purpose, a comparative data analysis of the age-gender population structure was carried out, based on the census of 1991 and 2001 and some additional sources (data base of the Committee for dispelled persons, returnees and refugees of the Ministry of Public Works, Reconstruction and Building). The analysis has shown that forced migrations during the Homeland war were of the greatest and most decisive influence, not only in terms of demographic shifts, but on the biological structure of the population as well. This can clearly be seen in the drastic worsening of the age structure of the population of the Sisak-Moslavina county, establishing a trend which seems to further the process of depopulation in that area.
