Sažetak

The paper outlines the basic facts and existing knowledge about hand-wheel pottery in Dalmatian hinterland, giving also the description of the manufacture of earthenware in three pottery centers: Ervenik near Knin, Potravlje near Sinj and Zagvozd near Imotski. On the basis of their common elements, the author makes notice of their mutual similarities and affiliation with the broader Dinaric or highland region. Referring to archeological finds from antiquity and the Middle Ages, written sources from the 18th and 19th centuries and maps of hand-wheel pottery extension in the 20th century, the author attempts to point out the presence of elements from different periods in history. Together with already established culture elements from the old Croatian heritage, influences from southern Italy of modern times have been presumed, owing to imitation of popular shapes of dishes from urbanized centers.
