Sažetak

Abstract Fuel consumption control system in process heaters has been developed in the Sisak Refinery in order to create reliable fire control in process heaters and subsequently the control over all flows for process heaters. It is assumed that reliable fire control is the main prerequisite for rational fuel consumption in process heaters. The system has been established to continuously calculate the following for each process heater: - real values of heater efficiency, - total fuel consumption expressed in equivalent units of fuel oil, - real fuel gas consumption quantity. The fire control is performed by means of heater effiency because this value is influenced by both, the combustion quality (flue gas composition) and the heat transfer efficiency (flue gas temperature). In addition to fire control, the value of heater efficiency has been used for calculating fuel consumption by means of absorbed heat quantities. In calculating of fuel gas consumption the real heat value is taken into consideration. Including in calculation the notion of target heater efficiency as well as the notion additional fuel consumption calculated on the basis of difference between target and real heater efficiency values, the possibility has been created to evaluate fire quality in each process heater objectively. Since the system is based on real heater efficiency values, it could be used for objective evaluation of application features of various, first of all heavier fuel oils. In the same way the influence of various kinds of additives for combustion improvement could be evaluated.
