The treatment of acute inflammations of the oral mucosa with chlorhexidine-hydrochloride (»Hibitane«)

Sažetak
In the introduction inflammations of the oral mucosa and their effect on the organism are discussed. The activity of the bacterial flora is emphasized in the etiology of such inflammations and the application of antibacterial therapy for their sanation is mentioned. After learning about the good properties of Chlorhexidine-Hydrochloride(»Hibitane«) from the literature, the authors undertook clinical testing of the drug's effect on acute inflammations of the oral mucosa. On the basis of clinical observations on 34 test subjects and based on the testing of the fragility of the capillaries as a symptom of inflammation in 20 test subjects the authors reached the following conclusion: 1. Chlorhexidine-Hydrochloride (»Hibitane«) is an antiseptic agent showing a positive antiphlogistic effect which becomes manifest by a reduced degree of redness of the oral mucosa, by an abatement of pain and by epithelization of oral ulcers. Objective clinical testing of the course of the inflammation upon application of this drug has been confirmed by clinical observation. 2. The tolerance of the drug applied dissolving the tablet slowly in the mouth is very good. The tablets are by their form, taste and solubility suitable for oral application. 3. A combination of a medication Chlorhexidine-Hydrochloride (»Hibitane«) and other types of oral treatment gives favourable effects.
