Experiences with expert supervision in the dental service

Sažetak
The author draws the attention of the leading health officials and the responsible functionaries in the health insurance institutions and especially those responsible for health protection of the mouth and teeth to the problem of an expert supervision in the health system.
With experience stretching over a period of 10 years as head of a dental polyclinic responsible for drawing up contracts between the health insurance institutions and the health establishment headed by the author, the work of expert supervision is described which was for 2 years undertakenrather at haphazard and later on for 8 years systematically, especially in the Department of Prosthetics. It is the author's opinion that prosthetic work is the most visible but most delicate to handle with regard to an expert supervision. In order to obtain as true as possible a picture about the data on expert supervision, enquieries have been instituted by means of a »protocol« system in which the work to be corrected or repeated has been assessed. The author supplies graphs and tables giving a review of expert supervision from 1964 to 1970 showing the prevailing trend and the results obtained. The author considers that expert control is necessary because it may have a stimulating effect on possibly better quality of work with regard to the fact that in mass examinations the most essential faults become visible. By means of professional training aiming at perfection of methods with a group of experts or individually these faults can best be remedied and removed.
