The surgical — orthodontic treatment of impacted upper incisors

Sažetak

The report contains data from the literature about the incidence of irregularities in the set of individual teeth and etiological factors affecting this phenomenon are listed. Special attention is paid to the problem of impacted upper incisors. It is often difficult to move the impacted upper incisors to their right place in the set of teeth. If the shape and the position of the relevant tooth permits it is recommended to attempt conservative, surgical or combined measures to bring the tooth into its proper place. Should such procedures remain without success, provided the conditions are suitable, surgical — orthodontic treatment should then be attempted.
The authors describe a modification of Gwinn's and Giardin's method which was applied with success in treating 12 patients with impacted upper incisors.
