Sažetak
The challenge put in front of European Catholic schools in the third millenium summarizes a number of past and present realities which have been developing following a different dynamics and depending on the area. We should face the challenge of moving towards one common politics of Catholic schools in Europe. We are all spiritual daughters and sons of one teacher – Jesus Christ and we have been called to serve others. It is clear that the problem is in faith indifference rather than in faith differences. However, we can be helped by:
- a vision of the Church in the new millenium, especially of the Church in Europe;
- a vision of Catholic education and its contribution to human development and the salvation of the world;
- a clear theology of the community as the principal place for preaching the Gospel, a theology which has a strong support of empirical sciences.
This article may give us an opportunity to answer the question of how to educate a new generation of teachers and headmasters who will continue to use an enormous potential for evangelization that Catholic schools have. That also includes an investment in the formation of these persons. If we do that the next generations, both of secular society and of the Church, would be grateful to us. But if we do not succeed in it we will be responsible for our failure in front of the one who is our true and only teacher, Jesus Christ.
