THE SINGLE OPEN-ENDED CONTRACT

Sažetak
This paper analyzes the theoretical model of single open-ended contract. The latter was created by economists from the European Mediterranean countries in response to unemployment and segmentation of the labour market. The aim of the single open-ended contract is to eliminate the differences between the fixedterm
and open-term employment contracts and to stimulate the employment on a more permanent basis. Among its main characteristics are gradual protection of employees which increases according to the length of service; additional financial obligations of employers, as well as significant reduction of employer’s obligations
in case of termination of the employment contract. The author also examines new forms of employment contracts based on the model of a single open-ended contract, while underlining the disadvantages of the proposed model.
