According to the latest global estimates and statistics in the last two years in the world due to higher production costs and higher prices of pork and beef decreased consumption of beef by 1.6 % and pork by 0.6 %. At the same time the consumption of chicken and turkey meat for about 5 % was increased, and in the structure of consumption of chicken and turkey meat compared to beef and pork captures a share of 35 %. The latest projections of the total world production of poultry meat by AVEC (Association of Poultry Processors and Poultry Trade in the EU Countries) by the year 2020 predict an increase of 20 % or an average annual growth of 3 %. At the same time the European Union (EU) is projected to expand production of poultry meat in the same period by 2 % to a total of 12,824,000 tons. It also predicts stagnation of imports of poultry meat for 2 % to total 826,000 tones and exports decrease by 3% to a total of 1.322 million tons and predictions result in an overall increase of the consumption of poultry meat for 8 % or 12.709 million tons. In addition, by the year 2020 and above, the 27 countries of the EU is planning to increase the consumption of poultry meat per capita at 24.02 kg, a slight decrease in consumption of pork from 1 % to 40.74 kg and beef consumption growth of 3% to 15.78 kg expressed as CWE (Carcass Weight Equivalent).
