How the Traditional and the Dominant Cultures Influence the Life of the Youth Brankovina

Sažetak

The article presents results of research
into the way of life and culture of the youth
of the village of Brankovina, carried out in
1987. From data on the position of young
members in the family, relations among
generations, social contacts within a
single generation and the use of the media
in leasure, we tried to establish the
influence of the traditional parental and of
the dominant culture in each of those
fields. On this basis we conclude that
there is no subculture of the rural youth
formed by the transformation of the
parental culture and the adoption of values
of the dominant culture, transmitted
through education and the media.
