Sažetak
The analysis of particular case studies of products in chemical engineering by taking into account demands from the market for improved quality behavior may help in solving the problem and looking for new products with added value in compliance with the customers’ requirements. This paper partly investigates the problem of the negative appearance of plastic bottles based on high-density polyethylene (PE-HD) that swale during storage. This study is part of case study analysis – plastic bottle products inadequate both for the producers’ and market demands. The results of spectroscopic (FTIR) and thermal (DSC) analysis confirmed the identity of PE-HD as the basic polymer component, and thermogravimetry (TG) was used to determine the absence of filler in the formulation of plastic bottles that swale and those that do not. In this way the effect of inadequate formulations has been eliminated. However, the results of significant differences in wall thicknesses observed in plastic bottles that swale, may be one of the causes of the problem, besides the conditions of extrusion and design of plastic bottles, which was not the issue of the present work.
