Sažetak
Das literarische Interesse an Judas Ischarioth verlagert sich zu Beginn des 20. Jahrhunderts von der Figur des Verräters auf seine Tat: Der Verrat erscheint in politischer und sozialer Neuperspektivierung als durchaus akzeptable Orientierung in einer von Umbrüchen und Verwerfungen bestimmten Zeit. Zwei weitgehend unbekannte Dramen von Carl Sternheim und Egon Friedell stellen das Handeln des Judas – in deutlicher Analogie zur eigenen Zeit – als die verzweifelte und zugleich bewusste Tat eines heroischen Revolutionärs dar, der sich von seinem politischen Weggefährten und dessen Appeasement-Politik enttäuscht abwendet und mit seinem Verrat ein Schlüsselthema des 20. Jahrhunderts präfiguriert.
At the beginning of the 20th century, literary interest in Judas Iscariot shifts from the figure of the traitor to the deed itself. If observed in the context of emerging new social and political perspectives, the act of betrayal can be interpreted as a perfectly understandable reaction in a time of upheaval. In two, little-known dramas by Carl Sternheim and Egon Fridell there is a clear analogy between the act of Judas and their own historic context: the betrayal is portrayed as a desperate and at the same time conscious act of a heroic revolutionary, who turns away disappointed from his former political allies and whose betrayal establishes one of the key issues in the 20th century.
