Sažetak
In spring 2013 the Institute of Archaeology carried out the documentation of the mediaeval fortification at Gradina near Špišić Bukovica in the Virovitica-Podravina county. The hillfort was recorded by a total geodetic station, upon which a digital model was made using Golden Software Surfer 11. Surfer is used for reconstructing spatial fields from collected spatial data, and it is capable of producing a number of 2D and 3D digital models. It is very simple for using, requiring only the basic knowledge of the program.
In addition to clear images of different views of the fortification, it is particularly suited for a rapid creation of desired cross-sections across the site, which in the case of Gradina near Špišić Bukovica allowed us a clear insight into the topographic and structural character of the fortification.
The fortification was erected on a hill slope, with the excavation of deep ditches that gave shape to the central elevation (30 x 20 m), a smaller northern plateau (formed by extending the first interior rampart) and three substantial concentric ramparts. The fortification has an oval layout, 190 m long in the north-south direction by 130 m wide east to west.
