Sažetak

Therapy for rheumatoid arthritis (RA) has seen significant advances over the past decade. Even though the most important improvement has been achieved in medicament therapy, some of the drugs have certain limitations such as systemic side effects, and a lack of curative response. Such medicament limitations make the ideal therapy for RA unrealized. Therefore, applying physical therapy is still one of the most important components of therapy in all stages of the disease. Attaining a good response to therapy early in the disease process is key to minimizing the joint damage, relieving pain, improving mobility and functional decline characteristic of RA. This review will discuss the place and the role of physical therapy in RA.
